Frequently
Asked Questions

Here are a few of the questions we get on a regular basis at Arrowhead Automotive. If yours isn’t among them, you can use the link below to ask a question using our Contact form.

Why is regular vehicle maintenance important?

Regular vehicle maintenance keeps your car or truck performing at its best. A well-maintained car is a safer car and one that saves you money - both by helping to prevent costly repairs and by lowering your fuel costs. And when it comes time to sell or trade, your vehicle will be much more valuable if it’s well maintained.

My Check Engine light is on. What should I do?

First of all, don’t ignore it! The check engine light is an indication that your On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) System is trying to tell you something. Bring your vehicle to Arrowhead Automotive as soon as possible. Arrowhead Automotive Technicians are fluent in speaking ODB II, and we’ll translate your Check Engine light’s message. We’ll tell you what’s happening with your engine or emissions system, and provide a written estimate before making any needed repairs.

How often should I change the oil in my vehicle?

If you use conventional oil, we recommend you change it every 3,000 miles. Synthetic oil can last up to 5,000 miles between changes. If you wait too long, your oil starts to break down. This leaves sludge and buildup on the engine that can affect performance.

My car is making a weird “plunkety-plunkety-plunkety” sound. What’s wrong with it?

It would be nice if we could tell you exactly what your problem is from your description, but that’s probably not going to happen. To be certain, you should schedule an appointment with Arrowhead Automotive so our experienced, highly-trained technicians can find the problem and eliminate the “plunkety-plunkety-plunkety.”
